PRESSURE REDUCING UNIT (PRU)
Pressure Reducing Unit (PRU) is used to reduce the natural gas pressure from typically 250 barg (CNG tube trailers) to approximately 1.5 barg for boiler or gas engine use. Another function is to measure and quantify the amount of natural gas sold to the customer.
Due to the Joule-Thompson effect during natural gas expansion, the natural gas needs to be heated to above its dew point pressure before its pressure could be regulated. This is to prevent the hydration. PRU manufactured by ABA utilizes either shell-and-tube heat exchanger or finned type heat exchanger to heat the natural gas. The selection of heat exchanger is carefully done based on the pressure, temperature and flow rate of natural gas. |
